Throughout Halloween night and the surrounding evenings, the subway system is filled with New Yorkers and visitors en route to their spooky season festivities (typically the legendary Village Halloween Parade), creating a delightful scene along the way that we like to call Subway Halloween.
This year we teamed up with longtime documenter of the night, photographer Sai Mokhtari, who rode the rails for hours on October 31st — below, see the night through her lens. Starting with Arlise, Norman and Gia, who told Mokhtari at West 4th Street, "We take the subway on Halloween night every year, for literally decades — we love when people ask us to take photos!"
