Nestled in the riverfront village of Nyack, New York is one of the Hudson Valley’s treasured historic and artistic gems, the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center.  The birthplace and boyhood home of America’s foremost realist painter, Edward Hopper (1882-1967), was saved from demolition in 1971 by local residents to become the thriving museum it is today.

The Museum gives depth to the renowned American artist whose honest representation of life in America perennially evokes both contemplation and reflection. The House celebrates and advances the legacy of Edward Hopper through changing exhibitions of artifacts, photographs, early drawings that Hopper created during his formative years in Nyack, and works of artists inspired by the iconic painter. Hopper's boyhood home was built in 1858 by his maternal grandparents and served as his primary residence until 1910. Today, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Museum is affiliated with the National Trust of Historic Preservation's "Historic Artists’ Homes and Studios" program.

Please note that the main floor (Main Gallery, Sanborn Gallery, Elizabeth's Parlor) of the Edward Hopper House is wheelchair accessible, with a ramp beginning at the back of the house leading to the front porch (call for assistance.) The second story of the House is currently not ADA accessible.
