Take a trip to Montauk, the ultimate seaside community located at the tip of Long Island, without the stress of a long drive or planning your day. After your train pulls into the station, you will board a bus to “the End,” making stops at three classic sights: Montauk Village, the Montauk Point Lighthouse, and Gosman’s Dock.

Take a breezy stroll through Montauk Village, where you’ll find snacks, any essentials you may have forgotten, and unique local gifts from boutiques, all just steps from the beach.

The Montauk Point Lighthouse was the first lighthouse in New York State and is one of the oldest active lighthouses in the U.S. today. Climb to the top or stick to ground level and explore the gift shop, museum, and surroundings in Montauk Point State Park.

Gosman’s Dock is located right at the watery intersection of Montauk Lake and the Atlantic Ocean, so you’ll get water views no matter which way you look. The area features plenty of shops, treats, and Gosman’s Restaurant. Sit inside, on the expansive patio, or take it all in from the Topside, where you’ll catch plenty of boats heading out to sea. Afterwards, wander over to the beach and take a walk on the jetty.

This summer, the August 10th tour* is a little different than the June and September ones. For August, instead of the Montauk Lighthouse, we'll take you to Sag Harbor, at the heart of the Hamptons. There, you can take in all the sights this historically-rich port has to offer - from beaches and nature preserves, to museums, vintage shops, and outdoor dining.

The MTA Deal

$83.75 per adult ($65.50 per child ages 5-11). The tour on June 29th and September 28th includes round-trip rail and bus transportation, a visit to Montauk Village (on your own), admission to Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum, and a stop at Gosman’s Dock to eat and shop (on your own). How to Get Your Tickets

Tickets may be purchased at Gray, Green or Blue Ticket Machines and ticket windows at LIRR stations*. Select "MTA Away Deals," then, "Escorted Tours," then the tour.

Multiple tickets/vouchers will print. Be sure to take all items dispensed and board the rear train car. This tour has limited space availability.

* Tickets will be available at ticket vending machines up to the Wednesday before the tour and available at ticket windows until the day of the tour.

Please check for train times and track assignments on the TrainTime App, digital signage, or information booth on the day of tour. Remember to board the rear car of the Montauk train at Jamaica. There is a transfer to a bus at Montauk Station. This escorted tour involves considerable walking to fully experience the destination.
